UI Sketching on Paper - Templates

The Smashing Magazine released a set of printable templates for pen & paper sketching for multiple phones and tablets including Android devices.

The free download includes device frames for sketching UIs as well as templates they call "tap size" which are meant for testing real size touch interface simulation. You can use them to experiment with different hit areas and margins to figure out what kind of sizes you should use for your components.

Device Frames

The download contains multiple Android devices as well as Meego, iOS, Blackberry, Web OS and even Symbian frames. 



Real (Tap) Size Templates

The tap size templates match exactly to real device sizes as long as you print them without scaling them.

Sizes included in the package are:
  • 3.5 inches — 640 × 960 pixels
  • 4.65 inches — 1280 × 720 pixels
  • 5.3 inches — 1280 × 800 pixels
  • 7 inches — 1024 × 600 pixels
  • 7 inches — 1280 × 800 pixels
  • 7.7 inches — 1280 × 800 pixels
  • 8.9 inches — 1280 × 800 pixels
  • 9.7 inches — 1024 × 768 and 2048 × 1536 pixels
  • 10.1 inches — 1280 × 800 pixels
