Evernote has very clearly branded landing page with the dashboard pattern. They have added a nice touch by using a fine divider line between different types of actions. New note and Snapshot actions create new content and the rest are used for reading old content.At the bottom they use a simple automatically hiding bar to inform user about application status.
Germany's post office application does a very good job in presenting all the application's functionality to the user on the landing page.
